As a proud Member of Nikonians.org, I had the opportunity to spend a week as one of 32 photographers as we participated in our 11th Annual Nikonians Photographic Adventure Trip. Here are many of the splendid scenes I wish to share.

Again as a proud member of www.nikonians.org, I had the opportunity again this year to spend a week with 32 other photographers as we traveled to New Mexico and captured images of Taos Pueblo, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, Route 66, Tent Rocks, the Rio Grande area, White Sands, Roswell, VLR (The Very Large Array), etc., etc. Here are images from that trip.

As a proud member of www.nikonians.org (Nikonians) I had another opportunity to travel with 25 fellow photographers to the target rich area of northern Arizona. Unfortunately, due to the US Governments funding shutdown of "non-essential services" we were not able to go to several U.S. National Parks and Monuments.

However, we were able to spend several days in around beautiful Sedona, Oak Creek Valley, Jerome, Route 66 in places such as Kingman, Oatman, Seligman, Williams, Flagstaff as well as visit the little town of Chloride, Arizona. We also traveled to Page, Arizona to see Horseshoe Bend, Lower Antelope Canyon, and Glen Canyon Dam and the scenic roads between them.

During March, 2013 Joann and I traveled to Alaska to see the Aurora Borealis, Ice Art, Sled Dog Mushers, and the Arctic Tundra. We experience cold to -22 with wind chills even lower. It was a wonderful experience. Here a few images from that trip.

Between April 1, 2014 and April 17, my wife and I traveled to South America on another Road Scholar tour with 21 other folks. We flew from Miami to Sao Paulo, Brasil then to Iquazu City to see the Falls (one of the 7 natural wonders of the world) then off to Lima and Cusco, Peru prior to spending several days in the Urubamba Valley with Machu Picchu as our main objective. We visited indian villages and many Inca historical sites, too. Then we flew to Santiago, Chile as our connection to a flight to Easter Island (a territory of Chile) 2000 mile out in the Pacific. Here are a few images from the many taken on this trip.

Delighted to participate in a two week trip to Northern Wisconsin and Western Upper Peninsula Michigan with home base at Treehaven UWSP Conference Center. Spectacular Color and woodland delights abounded as I joined 24 Photographers to experience the beauty of Autumn.

My wife and I took an other Road Scholar Trip. This time to Northern Arizona. I was there in October, 2013 but at that time Grand Canyon National Park was closed due to the ignominious US Government Shutdown due to Budget not being passed and all National Park and Monuments were unfunded for three week. This time, I got there and it was fabulous. We were fortunate to here a wonderful lecture by a Geologist at Northern Arizona State that gave us a fine understanding of the formation of the earth, continental shifts, oceans and layers of geological time. That gave us a better appreciation for what we see when visited these canyons and wonderous landscapes. My images can nearly due justice to what our eyes behold, but they do give a glimpse.

During this trip I drove from Milwaukee to Colorado visiting Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park, Ft. Collins and finally stayed about 50 miles west of Ft. Collins and 3 to 5 miles north of RMNP at Colorado State University Pingree Park (an environmental, conservation and nature studies campus) located about 9000 ft in the Roosevelt National Forest. The highlight of this trip was the great visuals of nature include Cirque Meadow located about 10,000 ft and the views of the Mummy Range of the Rocky Mountains. I continue to marvel about the hot central United States Grasslands of Nebraska and North Eastern Colorado. I would have to say, stopping over both on the way to and from Colorado in Omaha/Council Bluff was a highlight, too....given the wonder steaks at Jack Binion's Steak House at the Horseshoe Casino. It was fun to people watch...not pictures, though of that.

After a trip to the Upper Peninsula Michigan in August followed by a trip to Virginia (both road trips taken from Milwaukee to the destinations) I embarked on a two week 3200 mile round trip adventure to visit South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana to see some of the must beautiful country and National Parks in the United States including The Badlands, Devils Tower, Grand Tetons and Yellowstone among other places visited.

The Yellowstone segment included a work shop lead by Meg Sommers an excellent Yellowstone Photographer with a few other photographers seeking to learn how to photography wildlife and scenes in the National Park under the auspices of a Road Scholars educational experience. My images only give us a small clue into the beauty of the natural scenery and wildlife of these fine National Parks.

This trip included time in Lison, Sintra, Cabo da Roca, Fatima, Obidos, Coimbra, Alcobaca, Figuiera da Foz, Porto and the Douro Valley area. The visit included Symphony Orchestra concert and National Theater Performance as well as fine food, wonderful architecture and the majestic history of Portugal through the centuries. It was with special enjoyment that we experience the wines and ports of the Duro Valley region.
Sintra and Alcobaca host UNESCO world heritage Sites, Coimbra hosts one of the oldest Universities in Europe. Fatima is a testament to the faith of a people.

As a proud member of Nikonians.org my schedule allowed me to meet up with old and new friends to photograph in Maine from Portland to Boothbay Harbor as well as Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. It was the Fall 17th Annual Nikonians Photography Adventure Trip (ANPAT). We had a wonderful mix of weather to get a feel for the eastern shore of Maine. Here are a few of the wonderful scenes I was able to capture during the trip including a few Pre-ANPAT images taken with a friend who lives in northern New Jersey at Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty.

Visited Wildlife Refuge in Chincoteague, Virginia and various areas around Assateague Island and up into Maryland.

My wife Joann and I had the opportunity to spend 3 days in Barcelona including Costa Brava before a Mediterranean cruise on Symphony of the Seas the newest and largest cruise ship in the world owned by Royal Caribbean. The cruise to us to several ports and cities including Barcelona, Palma de Majorca, Costa Brava, Marseille, La Special, Pisa, Lucca, Civitaveechia, Rome, Sorrento, Amalfi, along the Amalfi Coast to Sorrento and back to Barcelona). We then took from Barcelona the train to Paris where we spend three wonderful days including going to the Philharmonie de Paris orchestra for a concert on our last day. What a wonderful 16 days!

Often I like to photograph flowers, roses are a particular favorite and look at different positions, orientations, crops and tonal representations along with post processing options. These images represent some of my visions in floral imagery.

Includes both natural and human images which focuses more on patterns, lines both black and white as well as the magic of color.

I am proud to have met the testing requirements to achieve Pro Photographer Certification from the New York Institute of Photography as well as achieving the certified Pro Photography from BetterPhoto.com.

Over the course of the last few years I have entered from time to time through local Camera Club Organizations (previously in the Chicago area and currently in Wisconsin), Nikonian.org, BetterPhoto.com, and Photographic Society of America images for competition judging. Images that have received Awards, Honorable Mention or Finalist considerations are included in this gallery category as well as my certification logo.

Since taking up Photography these two cities get special attention.

Among my many adventure in image making is the fulfillment of a long time wish to create both monochrome and color Infrared (IR) images. I use either a 590nm or 720nm lens filter or my Nikon D90 converted to IR 590. Here are examples of that work, that I hope pleases everyone.

I have participated in a number of fine art photography exhibits. They have included Urban Ecology Center Photography Club at Milwaukee City Hall in fall of 2012, Art Bar in Milwaukee in April 2013, Urban Ecology Center Photography Club at Manor Village in Milwaukee spring 2013, Union League Club of Chicago annual Photography Competition and Exhibit during April and May 2013, Urban Ecology Center Photography Club at the Reuss Bldg. in downtown Milwaukee including Gallery Night July 26, 2013, and Wisconsin Area Camera Club Organization Exhibition at Reuss Bldg. in downtown Milwaukee August thru September 2013. Certain images have been exhibited at Wisconsin Area Camera Club Exhibition in 2014, 2015 and now upcoming in 2016. Finally, I have exhibited at the Milwaukee Coalition of Photographic Arts Exhibition in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

As we look at our world, finding the pattern and detail at a close range brings alive the wonderful mystery of our world.

Here is where many who I have met while on this planet find an image home.

Most of my images are captured via the camera with minimal post processing using Lightroom and/or Photoshop Camera RAW and occasionally HDR Software such as Photomatix or Expose or conversion, at times in the camera to Black and White or during post processing digital dark room work using Nik Silver Effect, onOne or Topaz.

However, occasionally my artistic vision takes me beyond the original image into another realm of possibilities. That possibility includes far more "painterly" options for expression. Then, I may use the software tools of Photoshop Layers and Filters or, even more often, Plug-ins such as onOne Perfect Effects, Nik Suite, or Topaz Labs. This allows me to take image in the direction of Monet, or Turner or Cezanne or even pastels, watercolors and oil painting, etc. effects. Finally, I am now creating Infrared Images occasionally. This Gallery addition is dedicated these types of artistic images that fulfill that alternative vision. I hope you enjoy.
